A Justice System that's Truly Just

Black lives matter in Minneapolis. Indigenous lives are valued in Minneapolis. Immigrant lives will be protected in Minneapolis. Muslim lives will be respected in Minneapolis. All people deserve to live in a free and safe city.

Yet as we've seen too often in the Northside, that's not our reality. It's time for community safety solutions to come from the bottom up.

Here are some ways that I propose to begin building a justice system that's truly just:

  • Proactively address youth violence through proven public health approaches, rather than through a policing-only approach
  • Repeal ordinances used to unfairly target people of color and the poor
  • Bring back an empowered and independent civilian review authority
